When Quarterbacks (and really all of our athletes) demonstrate any kind of less than optimal movement, it is common for “poor flexibility” or “stiffness” to be identified as the culprit. But, Quarterbacks and Coaches should beware. Flexibility, while important and representative of how well some soft tissue in the body can stretch, is arguably not as important as mobility in its impact on your Quarterback.

Our friend Eric D’Agati (@ericdagati) of One Human Performance has a helpful Stride Sequence Mobility Flow video, FREE and linked below, which can be used with QB athletes very effectively. What I find especially useful in the series of movements Eric outlines is the applicability to multiple phases in the Quarterback’s delivery – including fluid weight transfer from back to front, the importance of thoracic mobility in spine rotation, and the balance of scapular stability with mobility as the throwing shoulder experiences external rotation during the load phase of throwing. Take advantage of this video, particularly at a time like this, when we do not have direct access to our athletes. FREE Stride Sequence Mobility Flow video

For Coaches in need of a straightforward and defined strategy for keeping their programs involved with strength training during the current quarantine rules, Coach D’Agati is offering a discounted price on his Winning in a World Without Barbells program. Click here for details.
